We had some fantastic volunteers from New Jersey the week before last working on Ms. Glinda’s home on Hodge Road in Havelock. They got a lot of the new siding up as well as most of the remaining drywall hung. Some of them were here earlier this year working on Robert’s house in New Bern so they got a chance to stop in and see Robert who really appreciate what they did and their return visit just to say hi. This was our first group of volunteers since early March but hope to get more. We are limiting our group sizes and prefer to have just one group. We also have put additional cleaning routines in place for the safety of volunteers.
Pete Berlowitz, one of our board members, was here last week. He brought us some signs for Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders ‘Powered by Volunteers’. We’re hoping the signage not only may help in bringing in local volunteers/donations but maybe a homeowner in need will contact us to see if we can help them if they still are dealing with unresolved storm damage from Hurricane Florence.
