We’re having a great week here in Plaquemines loaded with boomerangers. One of Heather’s favorite memories of the week is seeing Pastor Melissa, California Lutheran University, come into the Fellowship Hall on Sunday night and recognizing at least five of the St John’s team from previous visits. With all the hugging, the orientation was delayed almost 10 minutes.
The pioneer volunteer teams have had an exciting week with hot water heater and heater problems early in the week. Thankfully we have those problems ironed out which is a good thing because we’ve had nighttime temperatures below freezing on two nights. Really didn’t want to mention that but, in the interest of truth in advertising, felt I must. Do believe that cold weather is behind us.
The teams are doing great work on the rehab house and the church being built by volunteer church members. Gives a new meaning to our phrase “sweat equity” doesn’t it.
We’re scheduled to go to closing (official start) with the first new construction on Monday.
Stay tuned–the momentum is building!
