We finished up Ms. Esther’s home in Pamlico County (County just East of New Bern, NC). We replaced the roof, replaced the ceiling in the kitchen (and of course found some rotted rafters), and replaced damaged handrails at the front of house. The roof had been damaged by Hurricane Florence (can you believe that we still have storm-damaged roofs 19 months after the hurricane came?). I know most in this group wouldn’t find that surprising as it takes years to recover from these events. We’ve completed around 8 homes in Pamlico County and expect to complete 6 more in the next month thanks to SBP, Red Cross, Americorp and others. Hopefully, we will get past this Coronavirus by June and have a celebration with all these families in June along with all the organizations that have helped make this happen!
