Texas Winter Storm 2021 (Uri) Repair Program
Webster, Texas: The Fuller Center for Housing is pleased to announce the availability of $1,347,000 for the repair of water damage caused by broken pipes and associated water damage from Texas Winter Storm 2021 (Uri) [DR-4586-TX]. Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders (FCDR) will implement the program on behalf of the American Red Cross.
“After the widespread damage Uri created across 126 Texas counties, we are ready to begin repairing the water damaged homes of our Texas neighbors. This totally unforeseen disaster has created damage comparable to a small hurricane. Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders is pleased to administer the program,” said Bart Tucker, President.
Approach: FCDR has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to a network of nonprofits who are providing hands-on repair efforts across the 126 counties designated for Individual Assistance (IA) from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for DR-4586. With a goal of repairing 600 homes, awards will be issued on a rolling basis to insure additional funds are available as repairs are completed.
Homeowners with damage during the period Feb 11, 2021 – Feb 21, 2021 and who meet ownership and income levels will generally be eligible. Specific requirements are detailed in the RFP with a maximum award of $5,000 per home. Priority will be given to rural areas, underserved areas and smaller communities but all communities are eligible.
Homeowners should contact nonprofits operating in their area for detailed qualifications.
