We finished up Hattie’s house this week in Pamlico County East of New Bern this week. She’s been living in a trailer next to her house since Hurricane Florence and this past Monday she finally got to sleep in her house. It has been fantastic to get to know Hattie and finally make this rebuild happen for this fellow cancer survivor.
It’s been a busy and rewarding year for us in Eastern Carolina helping homeowners get back to some semblance of normal. Hattie’s home is the 23rd home we’ve completed this year (12th in Pamlico County). Brings the grand total since Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders came a year and a half ago to help our community to 45 homeowners helped. Can’t thank enough the major donors (Red Cross, SBP, etc) and all of our other donors, our local and remote support staff, our volunteers we miss so much, contractors that have helped step in with the void we have had in volunteers, etc. to make all this happen for these homeowners. And as Hattie quoted in a beautifully written letter to me ‘Glory to God!’
