We’re making grand progress in Plaquemines Parish! Don’t get me wrong, we still need you to come for a day, a week or a month to keep our momentum!
But the two complete rehabs we’re doing are in “float and tape” and looking great! By the end of today we’ll have a blacked in roof on new house 1, pilings in the ground for house 2 & 3, and [planned] pilings in the ground for house 4 on Tuesday. Next week we’ll have 55 volunteers, the most we’ve had so far in Plaquemines! For the rest of March, we drop back to 25 or so. But April and May are slim pickings so far.
Last night we had a grand event. We invited over the Mennonite Disaster Services (MDS) volunteer team who operate out of a separate camp about five miles away. They’ve had a team working with us this week, so we also wanted to say “thank you.” After introducing them to Face of God, our Lutherans (this week) and Mennonites joined in the Baptist sanctury for song and a presentation by Rev Ted Turner, Mt Olive Baptist Church. It was a grand celebration of the true church!
Peter Salemme and Bart Tucker working together again in Plaquemines Parish for Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders
Our friends at The Fuller Center for Housing sent out a mailgram to their e-mail list yesterday. We’re getting a heart-warming response but need you boomerangers to introduce them to our culture and way of doing things.
And finally Peter Salemme returns tomorrow! He’s agreed to take a sabbatical with us in his 50/50 journey! We’re blessed by his presence!
Stay tuned!
