Looking forward to having volunteers coming to the New Bern area the week of January 10, 2021. We are partnering with Purple Heart Homes to rebuild a Marine Veteran’s home in Havelock.
Purple Heart Homes is repairing/replacing the roof which was damaged by a tree and still had tarps on it. CMP Metal Systems out of Statesville NC donated all the metal roofing materials. Purple Heart Homes also took care of the rotting beams and subfloor in the kitchen that had collapsed as well as fixed the damaged eaves and soffits.
Also a continued thanks to the American Red Cross that has helped so much in funding for rebuilding homes in Eastern NC. They also came through with some grant dollars in December for us to replace the HVAC system in this veterans’ home which wasn’t in our original plan.
With volunteers in January we plan to replace the exterior siding, do repairs to kitchen walls (paint the kitchen and install new flooring), and also make repairs to master bath/bedroom (paint and install new flooring).
