VOLUNTEER

Disaster ReBuilders team members and volunteers work during all seasons Monday through Friday. There are usually several projects going at once, depending on the number of skilled and unskilled volunteers available. Volunteers and groups are welcome to join the team for any length of time during any month.

Tools are provided and FCDR team leaders will supervise, lead and teach unskilled groups. Volunteers pay a small fee, depending on their length of stay, which covers their housing, a t-shirt, the Orientation Dinner and some snacks.

What do you need to bring?

Housing is available dorm-style with bunk beds and mattresses. In the winter, the sleeping rooms can be cold. You need a sleeping bag or sheets and pillow plus a towel and personal items. When packing, please know that space is shared and tight.

What is a workday like?

Breakfast and lunch foods are provided Monday through Friday.  Breakfast is at 6:30 a.m. and is followed by instructions for the day and lunch packing. Work teams depart for their sites at 7:30 and work, depending on weather, until 4:30 or 5:00 p.m.

Dinner may be provided on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday but it will vary from site to site. Please refer to the FAQ’s on our registration page for these details. On Wednesdays, we encourage our volunteers to get out into the community where they are serving, have dinner and give back to this hard-hit area. Friday is up to each team but many like to go out again and recap their experiences from the week.
