I would like to extend a big thank you to Chuck Baldachinno for volunteering today on a special project. Many may not know Chuck unless you volunteered in Panama City, FL, or in Louisiana. Chuck is a full-time RV volunteer that has chosen to volunteer with us for many months at a time.
Our special project started yesterday when a call for help came in. We received word there was a husband and wife living in a tent. Their trailer was destroyed during Hurricane Laura. Their son recently found a camper for them to live in, but the camper had been hit by a tree during Hurricane Laura. The roof was leaking in multiple places. The family put a tarp over it but didn’t know how to fix the leaks.
Long story short, we ripped out the wet paneling and ceilings to let it dry. Sadly this camper is only a temporary fix to their situation. There’s no electric or water where they’re setup, so they’ll have to run 200’ of an extension cord to use an electric heater. Thankfully they will be out of the wind and cold tonight and for a while.
There are many more in this same situation all over Southwest Louisiana. Please keep them in your prayers. Also, check your calendars for the best times to come to volunteer next year. Your help is needed, and if you come before June you could have the pleasure of meeting the Volunteer star of the day Chuck!
Merry Christmas!
