We want to update on FCDR’s response to Hurricane Ida – along with our friends from https://www.facebook.com/gfnsfuller Ginger Ford Northshore Fuller Center for Housing we have started operations in Hammond, LA. Working out of First Presbyterian Church in Hammond we are hosting a FEMA team and hope to have an Americorps group as well. With Americorps, we will be clearing debris, mucking houses and tarping roofs. We are looking for additional hosting sites for more teams to come down and will update.
Hammond will also provide easy access down I-55 to Laplace, a community completely devastated by several feet of water. As an additional bonus for teams coming down, Hammond is also the site of Operation BBQ which plans to serve up thousands of BBQ dinners.
